rikm The Twilight Sad return with something old and something new, a lost track fans have been waiting for years to be released officially. Well worth the wait, "Tell Me When We're Having Fun" stands with the band's best...

Ryan Johanson Yes! Several years ago I had to download a low-quality version of this song using one of those YouTube-to-MP3 websites. I'm so glad there's now an officially released copy. It's always been one of my favorites by this band. It's exciting to know they haven't forgotten it.

Nick Dixon Yes! On Bandcamp at last.

This is a lost gem and it's great to find it here as well as in the usual places.
Beautiful little piano ballad; not exactly a shiny happy song, but it's still a glimmer of light during these darkening days.

about

‘Tell Me When We’re Having Fun’ is finally available to download after 9 years in the musical wilderness and only available to listen to via YouTube. All proceeds from the sale of the track on Bandcamp will go towards the bands crew who have been hugely affected by the lack of live activity this year due to the pandemic.

A firm fan favourite, it is taken from the recordings around the time of the 2011 album ‘No One Can Ever Know’

James recalls it fondly “Its a song I’ve always really liked and I’m proud of the lyrics. It’s about depression and being stuck in that hole. Even things that bring you great joy can’t seem to pull you out of it. You see everyone around you having the time of their lives and you should be too yet you still feel this way...so...Tell Me Me When We’re Having Fun. I’m glad it’s finally available as it’s been mentioned a lot to me over the years, it’s seems fitting that it comes out in 2020 though.”

Andy also remembers the process which saw it omitted from the album “We already had a few longer tracks in ‘Nil’ and ‘Not Sleeping’ and wanted it to be a concise record so we felt that, much like ‘The Wrong Car’ from around the time of ‘Forget The Night Ahead’ it didn’t quite fit.
We recorded it in The Pool, Bermondsey and I remember the first time Andrew Weatherall arrived he stopped, looked around and said “Oh I’ve been here before! I was here with the Scream doing something for the ‘Trainspotting’ soundtrack” So that was pretty cool”
